Okay, so i've been tearing my hair out for the last couple of months trying to get MDT 2012 to play nice!
I have a default windows 7 image loaded into it along with some applications and it all works great. Only problem is, that particular image is missing nearly 200 patches which takes hours to download and install whenever I need to roll out a new workstation to someone (which is frequent at the moment as we're a growing company - nearly 20 new employees in the last month and a half!)
The obvious way around this is to update the windows image so after reviewing some options (frankly, really can not be bothered with trying to mess around with WSUS) I decided on going for a full MDT involved process so importing a windows 7 image, creating a sysprep and capture task using that image and tweaking the unattend.xml so it runs the pre and...
