Reading today about imaging windows, I see that is accepted that you must do a sysprep before cloning to multiple computers.
I don't like sysprep, it just slow the proccess of deploying a new computer, and is tricky to configure to do what you want to do, and clears things that I prefer to preserve in the final image.
Actually, we have 700 computers, from 3 diferent HP models. 3 images, no sysprep. We're doing this almost for 5 years, first XP, now w7. No apparent AD problems, nor WSUS problems.
I did the image in the following way:
1- get a brand new computer from hp, with a windows 7 pro oem license
2- Format it to go away with all crap that comes with it. Install from 0 with a custom made windows 7 disk made by me (from a verfied iso with md5/sha1 from microsoft), with the generic HP oem key inside it, so it autoactivates when install.
